Opening of Pennant Hills Baptist Church Print E-mail

On Sunday October 16, Greg Smith was among the special guests invited to the opening of the new Pennant Hills Baptist Church.

The Pennant Hills Baptist Church has been serving the local community and holding church services on the same site since 1924. Around 300 people turned up to celebrate the opening on the new church building. The building had been under construction for almost a year and the congregation had to rely on the support and generosity of other local churches for places to meet.

Church elders shared their stories about how the site had changed over the years, the efforts of everyone involved with the project were recognised, and an official plaque was unveiled.

Other official guests included The Hon Phillip Ruddock MP Member for Berowra, Cr Nick Berman Mayor of Hornsby and Cr Robert Browne of Hornsby Council.

Mr Ruddock and Mayor Berman had an opportunity to speak before Lead Pastor John Macindoe invited Greg to say a few words and cut a cake to close proceedings.

Greg, who is a cantor at his local church in Carlingford, acknowledged the church band before delivering his address.

"I'm pleased to be involved in such an important event for the local community,’’ Greg said. “It was good to see such a large turn out to celebrate a church that has been serving the Pennant Hills community for such a long time."

"This great new facility will help them continue their good work well into the future. There was a very welcoming atmosphere, there were people from all ages and backgrounds, you can tell they really want to engage with the local community.’’
