Greg Smith held an information and community consultation session on the North West Rail Link on 28th September 2011 at the Castle Hill information centre.

Following an introduction from Greg Smith a representative from the project team gave a detailed presentation on the 23 Kilometre long rail project. The audience was made up of Epping constituents including representatives from local civic trusts and community groups from across the electorate, including the areas Thornleigh, Pennant Hills, Beecroft, Cheltenham, and Epping.

"The North West Rail Link was a major election promise of the O'Farrell Government. We are getting on with the job doing what the previous Government failed to do.  This project will provide essential and long overdue transport infrastructure to Sydney's North West, servicing the 300,000 people who live in the area. It will also help reduce traffic on local roads and reduce bus congestion." said Greg Smith.

"We opened the Castle Hill information centre in July and the project team have also held a number of successful information sessions around the surrounding electorates including two at the Epping club, and two in Cherrybrook."

There was a question and answer period following the presentations and a great deal of interest was shown by the audience with almost everyone asking a question. The event was informative and well received by those who attended.

In his closing remarks Mr Smith said:

"We plan to begin construction on the North West Rail Link within our first term in Government."

"We have done more work on the North West Rail Link in six months than Labor did in 16 years."

"Last month the Premier, Transport minister, and Treasurer visited Castle Hill to inspect the geotechnical test drilling site at Arthur Whitling Park, just across from the information centre."

"I'd like to congratulate the project team on helping to put together this event and thank everyone for coming."

Opening hours for the North West Rail Link information Centre at Castle Hill are: Monday to Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
